In the backdrop of continuous and increasing use of gadgets – especially while on the move - the need for frequent charging has been felt quite intensely. The invention of portable power banks proved to be the perfect answer for such situations. Many reputed brands like Xiaomi, Honor, Asus, OnePlus, etc. soon jumped into the gadget market with their own products. Micromax’s newly formed subsidiary Yu did not stay behind for long, and launched a new power bank in India recently. The device, JYuice, is brought out in two variants – 5,000 mAh and 10,000 mAh.
The 5,000 mAh variant power bank contains one USB port and is priced at Rs 699. The higher variant however is equipped with 2 USB ports and a micro-USB port (capable of charging multiple devices simultaneously) and will be available at Rs 1,099. These power banks are available online exclusively through Snapdeal. The company claims that the lower variant will fully recharge a smartphone battery (of 2000 mAh) up to 2.3 times, while the higher variant can do the same up to 4.6 times.

JYuice is a small sleek device weighing 250 g with round edges and a thin body (8 mm). It has an aluminium alloy case that looks attractive. The company claims that the aluminium body can prevent degeneration, corrosion and rusting. The feature include an LED flash which indicates and warns about the battery status. When the power is less than 30 per cent, it emits red light. The light turns yellow and green if the power-status is between 30 to 70 per cent, and beyond 70 per cent respectively.
